{"id":80,"date":"2010-01-14T12:27:43","date_gmt":"2010-01-14T19:27:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/smouldendesign.com\/blog\/?p=80"},"modified":"2010-01-14T12:31:17","modified_gmt":"2010-01-14T19:31:17","slug":"a-little-night-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/v2.shelbymoulden.com\/blog\/a-little-night-life\/","title":{"rendered":"A Little Night Life"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Being inspired by the <a title=\"Type Directors Club\" href=\"http:\/\/tdc.org\/tdc\/\" target=\"_blank\">Type Directors Club<\/a> this morning, I decided to typographically represent a beautifully written line from the song, <em>Frank Sinatra<\/em>, by Cake. I was going for the glamour and lights that I envision when I think of Sinatra and his Rat Pack. I also got the chance to use this new typeface I got yesterday. It&#8217;s called League Gothic. Isn&#8217;t it pretty?<\/p>\n<p>Building this design, I mainly thought of two things: how phenomenal smart objects are in Photoshop and how I&#8217;ve been using Outer Glow a lot recently. I&#8217;m sad that I never took advantage of Outer Glow before but I better not get hooked, huh? Either way, I love using styles and effects that I&#8217;m not used to give me a better vocabulary for future designs. This project is almost like playing with a visual Thesaurus. Hmm.
